Could see the ending coming but still a good rendition of Cinderella! Can't wait to read the rest of the series。 Could see the ending coming but still a good rendition of Cinderella! Can't wait to read the rest of the series。 。。。more

A fun, if predictable start of the series。

Sci-fi Cinderella? Yes, Please! This book had me in a whirlwind of emotions, from Iko's passing to Cinder's foot taken。 Wow。 This sci-fi Cinderella retelling is exactly what I hoped for。 The only reason my review isn't 5 stra is because Cinder was hinted of being the dethroned queen a bit much for my liking。 Other than that, seriously, WOW!! I love love love The Lunar Chronicles, and Cinder is a great first book。 The world is exciting and well structured。 Cinder and Kai have great chemistry。 The side characters are fleshed out and contribute greatly to the plot。 Out of the four books in this series, Cinder keeps most closely to the original fairytale, which isn't my absolute favorite, but the rest of the story makes up for it。 I love love love The Lunar Chronicles, and Cinder is a great first book。 The world is exciting and well structured。 Cinder and Kai have great chemistry。 The side characters are fleshed out and contribute greatly to the plot。 Out of the four books in this series, Cinder keeps most closely to the original fairytale, which isn't my absolute favorite, but the rest of the story makes up for it。 。。。more
Aubrey,
good clean book for young adult I was thoroughly impressed with how clean this book was。 I appreciated no swearing, no sex and nothing inappropriate。 I always find young adult books cheesy but I really liked the story。 There were a few parts where I felt that the storyline jumped too far ahead or wasn’t cohesive, but overall a good book。 I’m excited to read the rest。

Barbra Salas,
I really enjoyed this Cinderella take。 So creative and different。 I only rated it as 3 because some of it was slow and I don't know if the big secret was supposed to be obvious but it was。 And knowing it so early on made it less intriguing。 I really enjoyed this Cinderella take。 So creative and different。 I only rated it as 3 because some of it was slow and I don't know if the big secret was supposed to be obvious but it was。 And knowing it so early on made it less intriguing。 。。。more

4 starsGlass slippers? Nah。 Just leave a whole leg behind。Gosh if I would go back to the past, I would definitely pick this up when I was younger! I would go crazy over this series because of how good it is! This is my first time reading Marissa Meyer's work and I am in LOVE。 The world-building? The characters? The storyline? Brilliant。 Everything is so well-written。Cinder is such an amazing read for me。 It has been awhile since I totally fallen in love with YA sci-fi, fantasy, retelling but thi 4 starsGlass slippers? Emily,
so glad that i finally got to revisit this series。 a lovely introduction to our characters before the craziness and huge cast gets introduced。
Kate Collier,
This series was my favorite when I was younger, a fascinating mix of sci-fi and fantasy with a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and characters who you can't help but fall in love with。 This series was my favorite when I was younger, a fascinating mix of sci-fi and fantasy with a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and characters who you can't help but fall in love with。 。。。more

Jackie,
I really wanted to like this cinderella retelling。 Unfortunately, this futuristic tale isn't that different in regards to theme and morals。 Cinder is treated like garbage by the family shes adopted in to。 1 step sister kinda likes her。。as long as she can play dress up。 This could have been a modern retelling showing young women they can kick ass no matter what theyve been thru。 However, the ENTIRE SERIES has female characters that are abused, abandoned by the father figures, and treated as outsi I really wanted to like this cinderella retelling。 Unfortunately, this futuristic tale isn't that different in regards to theme and morals。 Cinder is treated like garbage by the family shes adopted in to。 1 step sister kinda likes her。。as long as she can play dress up。 This could have been a modern retelling showing young women they can kick ass no matter what theyve been thru。 However, the ENTIRE SERIES has female characters that are abused, abandoned by the father figures, and treated as outsiders, and ridiculed。 But low and behold。。they(each main FC) falls in love(at 1st "fight" with the very 1st man they come into contact with。 These are sheltered young girls(no way would i call them women)。 Yet they each fall in love with the 1st MAN who speaks to them? Seriously? That's a dangerous message。 Couldnt they exist with having JUST friends and a new family made up of these friends? Love themselves without a man? I did like the cyborg idea and the moon colony。 Very cool。 However, sticking to the same bullshit。。she loves a PRINCE!!! And guess what。。。even tho shes a marginalized race(barely delved intot that) that prince may just like her too!! Could have turned this story upside down。。but didn't。 Glossed over all metal health issues and all disabilities that could have made this a brilliant book。 Took the safe route。 Followed same formula。 Girl treated like crap, meets a guy whos cute, turns out hes a prince。 Lie about real identity。 Meet at ball。 Must be true love。 Of course it is!! Hes the 1st male shes had a conversation with。 Duh 。。。more

✨~Carden~✨,
Goodness I loved this book。 Cinder is an excellent protagonist。 She’s tough and spunky, and is an outcast in her town。 She’s a cyborg and a freak, as her family regards her as。 I honestly rooted for her throughout the whole book。 The world building is different for sure。 It’s set in a distant future where there are rulers all over the world。 It’s high tech, like a world controlled by technology。 I also get space vibes and what not。 There are people called Lunars who live on the moon。 They have Goodness I loved this book。 Cinder is an excellent protagonist。 She’s tough and spunky, and is an outcast in her town。 She’s a cyborg and a freak, as her family regards her as。 I honestly rooted for her throughout the whole book。 The world building is different for sure。 It’s set in a distant future where there are rulers all over the world。 It’s high tech, like a world controlled by technology。 I also get space vibes and what not。 There are people called Lunars who live on the moon。 They have an evil Queen who can control minds。 People fear Lunars for good reason。 The evil Queen can plunge the empire into war any second and everyone is scared of what will come。I liked the classic fairy tale twist。 The fantasy and the sci fi only made the story fascinating and interesting。 It was all executed well and I was drawn into the characters and world。 There’s so much to love about this book and series。 I can’t want to continue! 。。。more

Laura Dane,
Super fun YA SciFi reimagining of Cinderella。 Way more interesting and badass than that other one with dopey birds and squirrels putting ribbons and bows everywhere。

Izzy Silverman,
Peony was a favorite, but all the characters were really good。 I liked the different relationships the prince had, and the twist scene’s end was well executed to show similarities to Cinderella loosing her glass slipper。 Liked the way sci-fi played its part in the story。

Interesting retelling。 I liked the concept however I personally found that i didn't really enjoy how the book was written。 It felt a lot like i was reading something aimed for a younger audience。 If i had read this a few years ago i think i would have enjoyed it more as it would have been closer to the target audience age group。 Interesting retelling。 I liked the concept however I personally found that i didn't really enjoy how the book was written。 It felt a lot like i was reading something aimed for a younger audience。 If i had read this a few years ago i think i would have enjoyed it more as it would have been closer to the target audience age group。 。。。more
